Ayurvedic Dark Spot on Face Treatment

We just have to accept the fact that we are not all blessed with flawless skin. Most of us encounter pigmentations and blemishes on the skin. The worst enemies are the dark spots. They could be anywhere – on the face, lips, etc. It generally happens due to the excess secretion of melanin in the skin. Factors like excessive sun exposure, hormonal imbalance, a particular type of medicine, pregnancy, vitamin and nutritional deficiency, lack of sleep and a lot of stress affect the degree and amount of black spots. These spots may be a reason for embarrassment and make you reluctant to be a part of the social gatherings. People often wonder how to get rid of dark spots caused due to acne and look for an effective treatment. Fortunately, there are many home remedies one can adapt, to reduce the appearance of these spots. Let’s go through the article.


Lemon Juice

Lemon juiceworks as one of the best dark spot removers. It is rich in vitamin C, which helps lighten the dark spots (whether caused due to acne or any other reason) on the face and body. All you need to do is soak a cotton ball in the fresh lemon juice and rub it on the affected area. Once it dries, wash it off. Repeat it regularly for two weeks, to see improvements.

The lactic acid in the buttermilk helps brighten your complexion. It fades out the dark spots without giving any kind of burning sensation to the skin. Hence, proves to be an effectual dark spot treatment. Soak a cotton ball in the buttermilk and then apply it on your face. Remove it after ten minutes with water. Repeat it daily for two weeks.

Alternatively, mix 2 spoons of fresh tomato juice with buttermilk. Apply it on your face. Wash off after it dries. Tomato has exceptional natural bleaching qualities that will brighten your skin tone.

Oats are excellent exfoliators that remove dead skin. Grind half a cup of oats and add three tablespoons of lemon juice to make a paste. Now, scrub it on your skin and wash after it dries. Follow this treatment twice every week, for at least four weeks.


Take 10 almonds and soak them in water overnight. The next morning, peel their skin off and grind them. Then, add half a tablespoon of sandalwood powder and honey (or milk), to make a paste. Apply the paste all over the affected area and then wash it off after thirty minutes. Almonds act as a great moisturizer and thus, keep your skin glowing.


Potatoes have great skin-improving qualities. They are one of the wonderful home remedies for dark spots. Grate some potatoes and mix them with honey. Apply it on your skin and rinse off after a while. Do it as often as you can, to heal the problem quickly.

Or else, you can place a potato peel on your face for a while. Keep on doing this regularly.


Take a refrigerated tomato and put a slice of it on your skin as long as you feel the moisture on the slice. For the best results, repeat it twice a day.


Turmeric is a well-known skin lightening agent. All you need to do is make a paste of turmeric powder, lemon juice, and milk. Apply it on the spots. Leave it on for a few minutes and then, wash it off with the lukewarm water. Do this twice a week.


Grind an onion (peeled) in a blender to extract its juice. Dip a cotton swab in the juice and apply it on the affected areas. Leave it for twenty minutes and then rinse it off.

Or else, apply a mixture of onion juice and honey to reduce the appearance of spots.


Use fresh pineapple juice which does not have any additional sugar or preservatives. Apply this juice on your face; leave it on for twenty minutes, and then rinse. This helps fade out the spots.


Cook half a cup of chickpeas by boiling them. When cooled, mash them and make a paste. Apply this on your skin regularly for 4 weeks, and you will be amazed at the results.Water

Drink plenty of water and wash your face at least twice a day. The cleaner you are, the better your skin will be and the more water you have, the more will your skin glow.


Take plain yogurt and apply it on your skin. Let it stay for twenty minutes and then rinse it off with the normal water. Repeat this remedy twice daily for at least four weeks. If you have oily skin, yogurt is the best for your skin.

Vitamin E Oil

Vitamin E is an antioxidant which helps keep the skin free from any kind of discoloration. Just apply vitamin E oil to the affected skin area and over the course of 3-4 months, you will see the difference.

Milk and Honey Paste

Milk and honey, when combined, proves to be a very effective dark spot treatment.Mix some milk and honey in a bowl, and apply the solution on the dark spots. Wash it after 10 minutes. Use this paste regularly to get the blemish-free skin.

Orange Peel Powder

Dry the orange peels in the sun for a couple of days. Crush them in a grinder to prepare the powder. Now store it in an airtight container. For the best results, use it with a few drops of lemon juice, and apply it regularly

Castor Oil

Castor oil is the best for reduction of dark spots on the face and lips.It has exceptional healing qualities. Just dip a cotton ball in the castor oil and apply it on the affected areas. Massage it properly. Do this twice a day to even your skin tone.


Ginger consists of gingerol, which is very effective in fighting the skin damaging radicals. Apply a few slices of ginger after cleaning your skin and leave it on for twenty minutes. Regular usage helps get rid of dark spots and also prevents acne.


Take the rinds of watermelon and rub them against the black spots on your skin. Apply this at least two times a week. Watermelon has high moisturizing properties and valuable vitamins that rejuvenate the skin.


Cucumbers have commendable nourishing and moisturizing properties. To make the mask, grate a cucumber with the skin on. Add half a tablespoon of honey to it. Clean your face and apply the mask. Wash it off after twenty minutes with the lukewarm water. Apply moisturizing cream if you feel dryness.

Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide, being a very well-known bleaching agent, helps get rid of the dark spots. Apply it directly on the skin and rinse after twenty minutes.


Glycerin brings your skin’s original texture back. Just use a glycerin-based soap, or take an herbal cream and then add a few drops of glycerin to it.


Take any of your favorite cream and add a mashed peach to it. Apply this on your skin and leave it on for twenty minutes. Rinse and feel the difference in your skin. With regular application, you will see the spots vanish within a month!
