What is anorexia?
Anorexia (known as anorexia nervosa) is a kind of food and psychiatric disorder in which patients are afraid of weight gain. They significantly reduce food intake, as a large percentage of cases it leads to death (between 5 and 20%).
Most often anorexia affects bones and it happens in the early teen years. The heart, however, is the most threatened, because body loses weight and it also diminishes and weakens itself. In this situation, patients are hospitalized.
Anorexia affects both body and mind. In the beginning it can start by keeping some diet, or a gentle hint from our classmates that we are "a little plump." Anorexia affects mostly women, and if not treated in time, can lead to serious diseases, such as osteoporosis, kidney problems and heart problems.
