Basic homemade shampoo
A basic and simple homemade shampoo recipe for normal hair. Can be used as is or add your own fragrance by using essential oils
What do you need:
¼ cup distilled Water
¼ cup liquid Castile soap (or any natural liquid Olive oil soap)
½ teaspoon light Vegetable oil (olive, grape seed, avocado, jojoba oil etc.)
How to do it:
Simply mix all ingredients until you have a nice smooth substance. Pour it in a bottle (squeeze bottle, foaming bottle, flip cap bottle) and wash away; you’ll notice this shampoo will give an impressive lather
It might be slightly thinner than you’re used to in a regular shampoo but that won’t take away from the power and the fun.
Hibiscus homemade shampoo
The plants and flowers of the Hibiscus bush are known to cleanse the scalp and hair. For as long as they can remember the people of India and Indonesia have been using the cleansing properties of this bush to treat their hair. They are believed to remove dirt without eliminating the precious oils on your scalp that it actually needs and they soften the hair
What do you need:
1 handful of Hibiscus leaves
Water
How to do it:
Crush the Hibiscus leaves with your hands or in a mortar. Put these in a pot and just about cover them with water. Boil it for 20 minutes while stirring it every 5 minutes. When it is done pour everything through a strainer and let it cool down
Massage it into your hair and scalp as you would with a shampoo, this will form a very nice and non-drying lather. Rinse it and condition

How to do it:

A tropical surprise shampoo recipe with coconut and vanilla. Makes for a wonderfully fragrant shampoo, which turns into a thick sort of gel that is easy to apply
What do you need:
¾ cup distilled Water
½ cup unscented Shampoo base
1 ½ teaspoon Salt
1 tablespoon Coconut oil
2 teaspoons Jojoba oil
10 drops Vanilla fragrance oil
10 drops Coconut fragrance oil
How to do it:
Bring the water to a boil, let it cool down a few minutes and pour it in a ceramic bowl. Pour the shampoo base in the water and stir gently with a whisk. Then mix in the Coconut oil, Jojoba oil, salt and the fragrance oils. Keep stirring until you get a smooth, thick liquid
Pour it into a plastic squeeze bottle that can be closed and here you go, your own personal natural shampoo.

Soapwort, or at least the soapwort root, is known in the natural hair care universe for its gentle cleansing abilities. Like the yucca root, soapwort root contains a high concentration of saponins. This will give you that gentle foamy cleansing action that can be used as a sort of wash-all
What do you need:
2 cups Water
1 ½ tablespoon dried & chopped Soapwort root
2 teaspoons Lemon Verbena
How to do it:
Put the water in a pot and bring it to a boil. Add the dried soapwort, gently stir, cover and let it simmer for about 20 minutes. Take it from the heat source and add the Lemon Verbena, let it steep and cool down
When cooled down pour it through a strainer. Pour the liquid into a squeeze bottle (or any bottle, but squeeze bottles make for more foamy fun)
This should get you about 6 or 7 wonderfully sudsy shampoos. If you store it in a dark, cool place after using it, you can keep it for a maximum of 10 days

Organic Egg homemade shampoo
A delightful organic egg shampoo recipe, best suited for organic dry hair in an organic shower using organic water…yes, yes we got the point…
What do you need:
½ cup Water
1 organic Egg
1 teaspoon organic Coconut oil
1 teaspoon Lemon juice
1 tablespoon pure natural Olive oil Soap (Castile soap works but there are more)
2 drops of Lavender essential oil (or any fragrance you prefer)
How to do it:
Mix all ingredients in a blender until you get a nice smooth consistency…and that’s it really, it’s ready to use
Massage it gently into your hair using warm water (don’t use hot water, it will boil the egg ;-) then rinse it out
Whatever is left of your egg shampoo can be kept only until the next day if you keep it sealed in your fridge

What do you need:
¼ cup distilled Water
¼ cup liquid Castile soap (any other unscented liquid olive oil soap will work as well)
½ teaspoon light vegetable oil (think grape seed, avocado, jojoba oil etc.)
1 tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar
3 tablespoons Apple juice
6 Cloves
How to do it:
Ground the cloves to a fine powder in a mortar (if too complicated take the equivalent amount of ground cloves.) Put all ingredients in a blender and gently blend until you have an even and smooth consistency (use the lowest speed)
Now it’s ready to use. Massage the mixture into your wet hair and scalp. Leave it in for 2 minutes and rinse with warm water
What is left can be kept in a sealed container in your fridge for a maximum of 3 days

¼ cup distilled Water
¼ cup liquid unscented liquid olive oil soap (liquid Castile soap obviously will also work)
2 teaspoons Jojoba oil
10 drops Peppermint essential oil
8 drops Tea tree essential oil
How to do it:
Gently mix the liquid soap with the oils then add the water
Pour it in a squeeze bottle and you’re ready to use it as you would a regular shampoo

If you have dry hair like me, you’re going to love this dry hair shampoo recipe just as much as I do
What do you need:
½ cup Water
3 tablespoons grated Castile soap (you can also use liquid olive oil soap/ castile soap)
¼ cup organic Coconut milk (fresh is best)
1 tablespoon Coconut oil (organic of course…)
4 tablespoons Rose petals (organic…get the point?)
3 drops Rose essential oil
How to do it:
Boil the water, pour it in a cup and add the rose petals as you would when making tea. Let this steep for about 30 minutes. Then strain it. Slowly add the rest of the ingredients to the strained liquid and whisk until you have a nice even consistency
Pour it in a flip cap bottle and go defeat your dry hair!
You can store it in a dark place

If you have oily hair like my husband, you’re going to love this oily hair shampoo recipe just as much as he does
What do you need:
1 cup Water
2 tablespoons grated Castile soap (you can also use liquid olive oil/ castile soap)

1 drop Rosemary essential oil
How to do it:
Boil the water pour it in a cup and add the mint leaves as you would when making tea. Let it steep for 30 minutes. Reheat the mixture slightly then take it from the stove
