1. Citronella

5. Basil

Lavender essential oil or lavender in its natural form can be used around your home to keep the mosquitoes at bay. 7. Peppermint

11. Geranium

12. Margosa Oil

13. Organic Soy Oil

It has been touted as a mosquito repellent that has an equal effect as DEET. The organic soy oil has no side effects on the skin, but make sure that you are not allergic to soy products.

14. Lotus

The Asian Pacific Journal recently published that the lotus is a good mosquitoes repellent. It has a property of killing the mosquito larvae also. Since the lotus grows in ponds, it is a good option to be grown in homes that have backyard ponds.

15. Black Pepper

The extract of black pepper is found to have a good effect on repelling the mosquitoes. You can easily find this repellent in your pantry. Just consume them or boil them to make a potent drink.
